Theme: Cease the Opportunity!
There is this popular axiom that “an opportunity comes but once.” Are we able to realize and cease these opportunities when they come our ways? Some of us tend to make use of them whiles some of us too misuse those opportunities.
In the first reading; Acts of the Apostles 22:30; 23:6-11, Paul ceased the opportunity to witness to Christ when he was brought before Jewish High Council. My dear one, Paul was sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and that made it possible for him to share the faith of Jesus. The Sadducees and the Pharisees were the two groups of religious leaders but with strikingly different beliefs. The Sadducees only adhere to the teachings of Moses and the Pharisees believe do strongly in the resurrection of Jesus. So, instead of these groups having time for Paul in order to persecute him to death, they rather turn to their festering controversy about the resurrection. My dear one, we may not find ourselves in that similar manner. But the question is, are we ready to cease the opportunity to share our faith? Let us remember that God is in control of everything and we must always allow the Holy Spirit to speak to our hearts.
In the Gospel text; John 17:20-26, Jesus prayed for unity among believers based on the believers’ unity with Him and the Father. We cannot live in a community where there would be no unity among us. Jesus praying for us should give us assurance of His constant care and protection for us. Jesus’ greatest desire for His disciples was that they would become one. He wanted them unified as a powerful witness to the reality of God’s love. Building the Body of Christ, my dear one means that we must eliminate gossip, build others up, working in humility, giving our time and money, and supporting one another. We must endeavor to be promoters of Jesus’ unity in our various communities.
May the Lord continue to sustain us in His love so that we always Cease the Opportunity to witness to Him!
Good morning, dear one!
