Five persons – three men and two women – have been picked up by the police to assist in investigations into the murder of the Abuakwa North MP, Joseph Boakye Danquah, early Tuesday morning.
Early on, three men, including the security man at the Shiashie residence of the MP, were in the house when the incident occurred, police told myjoyonline.com’s David Andoh.
Two females have been arrested as police widen its investigations.
Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu was stabbed to death after some assailants went straight to the MP’s bedroom. They used a ladder to enter the home and after struggling with him for a few minutes, they overpowered and stabbed him.
JB Danquah was named after a leader of Ghana’s independence movement, Dr. JB Danquah who formed the United Gold Coast Convention in 1947. His liberal political ideology is the foundation of Ghana’s largest opposition party, the New Patriotic Party, NPP.

He was accompanied by National Youth Organiser Sammy Awuku. Lawyer Gabby Otchere-Darko was also at scene of mourning as shocked party supporters and neighbours grapple with the news.
NPP MP for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong told Joy News he got a call at about 4am. He said he was about preparing for jogging when he was told of his colleague’s murder.
“I was trying to make calls to my colleagues but it was too early” Hon. Agyapong said.
